Our Doctors

Drs. Michael & Brooke Certa

DVM

Drs. Michael and Brooke Certa are the practice owners here at Coastal Animal Clinic. In 2015, they purchased the clinic from Dr. Juan Molina, who is still practicing with the hospital today. They are proud to continue his legacy of compentent, compassionate care.
They met in “The Swamp” (Gainesville) while attending University of Florida. Go Gators! After graduating from veterinary school in 2008, they moved to Pinellas County to start their careers and soon after, a family! They both worked as associate veterinarians as well as the managing veterinarian at each of their individual hospital locations prior to purchasing Coastal Animal Clinic.

They value being active in the community with their local Pinellas County Veterinary Medical Association, where Dr. Brooke served as the past president as well as the Pinellas Animal Foundation that funds programs for pet loss support and educating our youth about caring for pets. In addition, Dr. Brooke was honored with the Florida Veterinary Medical Association’s Gold Star Award in 2017 for outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine.

They both enjoy mentoring and being involved with St. Petersburg College’s Veterinary Nursing Program where Dr. Brooke has worked as an adjunct professor. They have hosted many students in the program at Coastal Animal Clinic offering necessary hands-on experience to obtain their degree.

At home, they have a son, Edison and a daughter, Ella who keep them busy with cub scouts, girl scouts, soccer, horseback riding, and dance. In true Floridian fashion, when not in the clinic or busy with extra-curricular activities, the family can be found near the water – enjoying a beach day, fishing, boating or on a paddle board/kayak adventure. Their furry family includes a Golden Retriever, Mara who Dr. Brooke has had since veterinary school and a Yorkie-poo, Elsie. The family has recently added a few backyard chickens to raise as well (named 2-Bits, Mercy Percy, Cheez-it, Yogurt, Mogurt & Popcorn).

Dr. Mike also enjoys dabbling with repurposed wood/antique projects which you are likely to see on the walls around the clinics. They love calling Tampa Bay their home and look forward to treating your pets as the valued family members they are!

Dr. Danielle DeRosa

DVM

Dr. DeRosa is a Florida native, though she has only been living in the Bay area for about a year and a half. She received her undergraduate degree in Fine Art from the University of South Florida, but later went on to pursue Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. While earning her veterinary degree, she also attended the Chi Institute and became certified in large and small animal acupuncture. Additionally, she participated in externships at locations such as the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Wildlife Safari in Oregon, and the Wildlife Center of Virginia and still enjoys seeing exotic animals of all shapes and sizes. However, she is a proud cat lady and feline medicine holds a special place in her heart as well.

When not at work, Dr. DeRosa has a surplus of hobbies including kayaking, aerial fitness, baking macarons, and enjoying a variety of artistic pursuits. She also spends time cuddling with her three kitties (a Bengal and two grey and white fluffs) and traveling with her husband and they adopted an Australian Shepherd puppy named Cayenne (aka Anya) who is a new addition to their family and keeping them very busy.

Dr. Juan Molina-Brisson

DVM

Dr. Molina worked with the Argentine Army with the war dog breeding/training facility before he was promoted to Captain. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Molina knows how to treat pets and works at our Tampa location a couple of days a month and occasionally helps out at our Largo location

Dr. Nia Rametta

DVM

Dr. Nia Rametta grew up in the Poconos, Pennsylvania, and moved to Florida after graduating from veterinary school. She attended Delaware Valley University for her undergraduate degree and majored in Small Animal Science with a minor in Large Animal Science. After that, Dr. Rametta attended St. George's University in the beautiful country of Grenada, West Indies. Finally, she completed her clinical year of training at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. While in veterinary school, Dr. Rametta enjoyed being heavily involved in different clubs on campus, including the Blood Donor Project, Animal Welfare & Behavior Committee, International Veterinary Student Association, and many more. In addition, she was lucky enough to travel to Vienna, Austria, during an exchange program to view the city and learn more about Vienna's veterinary school and veterinary medicine.

Dr. Rametta has a passion for end-of-life care and general wellness care. She would be honored to discuss Quality of Life and help aid in the tough decision of euthanasia if appropriate.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Rametta enjoys spending time with her dog, Jordy, a "Pothound" from Grenada, and her two cats, Layla and Carl. She enjoys hiking, traveling, and going to the beach. She is thrilled to have joined the Coastal Family in July 2022!!
